Casapueblo is a unique and enchanting village-museum and hotel located in Punta Ballena, near Punta del Este, one of Uruguay's most upscale resorts. It was built by the Uruguayan artist Carlos Páez Vilaró, who lived and worked there. The whitewashed complex, resembling the Mediterranean style, is a tribute to the artist's son, who survived a plane crash in the Andes. The building has 13 floors with terraces looking out to the sea and houses a museum, an art gallery, a cafeteria and a hotel.
